Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard

Rating: 3/5 ⭐️

Genre: YA Fiction, Mystery, Teen Drama

Summary:

Three years ago, Alison disappeared after a slumber party, not to be seen since. Her friends at the elite Pennsylvania school mourned her, but they also breathed secret sighs of relief. Each of them guarded a secret that only Alison had known. Now they have other dirty little secrets, secrets that could sink them in their gossip-hungry world. When each of them begins receiving anonymous emails and text messages, panic sets in. Are they being betrayed by some one in their circle? Worse yet: Is Alison back? A strong launch for a suspenseful series.

My thoughts:  Pretty Little Liars is basically a short entertaining book. There’s drama, backstabbing friends and a huge mystery. I like the book because it’s fun to read and interesting. It’s not the best writing but Sara Shepard sure knows how to write interesting characters. Each of the four main characters have terrible secrets. Aria is having an affair with her teacher, Emily is a closeted lesbian, Hanna is bulimic and Spencer steals her sister’s boyfriend. Each of their own secrets affects the girls in totally different ways. The mystery is interesting and not everyone can be trusted.

The girls are getting texts from an anonymous person named A that is threatening to reveal all their dirty secrets. The tv series is way more popular than the books and I admit I use to be obsessed with it but now the show is so corny..

I finished the first book and I find it great but now I have to read 17 more books of the series. I think 17 books is a little too much but oh well.
