Genre: Fantasy, Fiction and Young Adult

Rating: 4/5 ⭐️

Summary:

The Dursleys were so mean and hideous that summer that all Harry Potter wanted was to get back to the Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. But just as he’s packing his bags, Harry receives a warning from a strange, impish creature named Dobby who says that if Harry Potter returns to Hogwarts, disaster will strike.

And strike it does. For in Harry’s second year at Hogwarts, fresh torments and horrors arise, including an outrageously stuck-up new professor, Gilderoy Lockhart, a spirit named Moaning Myrtle who haunts the girls’ bathroom, and the unwanted attentions of Ron Weasley’s younger sister, Ginny. But each of these seem minor annoyances when the real trouble begins, and someone, or something, starts turning Hogwarts students to stone. Could it be Draco Malfoy, a more poisonous rival than ever? Could it possibly be Hagrid, whose mysterious past is finally told? Or could it be the one everyone at Hogwarts most suspects: Harry Potter himself?

My Thoughts 💭

This book was really amazing. It wasn’t boring and I found myself enjoying the adventure Harry and his friends faced while at Hogwarts. The writing in the book feels so real, it actually feels like I’m in Hogwarts which I wish I was.

Harry is excited to start his second year at Hogwarts but when mysterious attacks start happening at Hogwarts, it’s up to Harry and his friends to figure out what’s going on before it’s too late. I know he’s annoying and all but Gilderoy Lockhart was probably one of the best things about this book. He’s annoying but also so funny because everyone knows he’s not a talented wizard. I like how fast paced this book is since later HP books are much longer and drawn out.

The mystery behind the Chamber of Secrets was thrilling to read about and even though some parts are predictable, I did enjoy this book because the writing is just so good and the characters are interesting to read about. I can’t wait to read Book 3!
